Program

Youth Leadership Lincoln consists of a one-day orientation in August and four one-day seminars. Program days focus on current community issues. The goal of each day is to open the minds of each participant to the perspectives that surround each issue and, through thoughtful consideration and discussion of the perspective, enable participants to become more visionary leaders in the community.

Each session is designed to present its topics through lectures, panel presentations and a variety of group activities. The orientation provides structured exercises and presentations, which explore the theories of leadership, personal power and decision making though group activity and discussion. Each one-day seminar forcuses on a major area of cummunity concern and explores the issue of leadership within the context of the day's subject.

As with the adult classes, the Youth Program includes the requirement to individually visit various community meetings such as School Board, County commisioners, and Board of Mayor and Alderman.

The Youth Program is new and developing. The program is tailored to the class interests and structured on a non-interference basis with other school activities.
