called meeting to order.
Minutes - One
correction was made to the December meeting minutes. The Economic Development Board meeting on January
12 will be held at the Lincoln County
Museum. The December minutes were approved as modified.
Financial Report - The financial report was
approved. It was noted that the issue mentioned in last month's meeting concerning
a possible outstanding bill from last year’s class has been resolved.
Chamber Report - Carolyn
Denton distributed a tentative calendar of upcoming events.
She mentioned the Sweetheart Pageant on Feb. 10 is the largest fundraiser
coming up.
Nathan Ward announced that at 9:00
a.m. on Jan. 12, the Planning Commission is hosting a regional
event at the museum. Members are to
call Heather at the Planning commission if they wish to attend.
Committee Reports
Youth Committee - Bridget
Jones reported that a tentative schedule has been developed for Business/Industry
Day on Jan. 23.
New Business
Local Government Day
Review - Carolyn Denton reported that
everything went well. The class asked
a lot of questions and showed interest in all aspects of the day. There were no critiques in class members notebooks so no critiques were turned in.
John Ed Underwood reported that Britt Dye
spoke with the class at lunch concerning internal questions among the class
members. Jim Malone indicated that Admiral
Kelso spoke about teamwork during his presentation, which also went along
with Britt’s talk.
Social Services Day
- Vicky Groce distributed the agenda for social
services day and said they are trying to finalize the schedule pending some
bus scheduling issues. Bridgett Jones
agreed to try to resolve the bus issues.
Business/Industry
Day - Jim Neale reported a tentative agenda
for Business/Industry Day has been developed.
Responding to a question posed by Jim Malone, Farris Beasley
said the Alumni Committee will begin planning this year's chili supper.
Jai Eason read an invitation
distributed via email by this year's class president, Jim Steele, inviting
members to a free seminar given by sales trainer Desi
Desiderio on "Persuasion Techniques" in
the second-floor conference room of the Fayetteville
Municipal Building.
