History

Chartered in 1987, Leadership Lincoln was modeled after other similar programs already in existence in a handful of communities across Tennessee.

Comprising the chartering board of directors were Kay Campbell, William R. Carter, Dick Farrar Jr., Raymond Fraley Jr., Mike Freeland, Donna Jeffries, Kay Monks, Chris Patrick, JoAnne Schroeder, Bill Shouse, Al Smith, Margie Soloman and Anthony Tayor.

"Our goal is touch every person in Fayetteville and Lincoln County who cares about our life together and wants that life better," said Shouse as the program was taking form.

Each of the program's graduating classes selected, while the class year was underway, projects that aid in improving the quality of life in Lincoln County.

Previous class projects have accomplished the creation of a much needed community fire department for one community. Another saw funds secured for an industrial technology center. Groundwork for KidsPark was also laid by Leadership class members, as was the foundation upon which Junior's House Child Advocacy Center was built. The Leadership class of 2004 planned and developed a Father's Memorial Park, as an extension of the existing Stone Bridge Park. The Leadership class of 2003 built a courtyard at Donalson Care Center. Work continues on landscaping and fencing the Center.
